


Unique in the fact that it had two architects and four owners forming a condominium committee. Van Ewing Construction, Inc. worked with both owners and architects to schedule and coordinate not only the construction of the project, but also the design, so that the project schedule could be met. This project is also unique in CMAR construction in that it had only a 1% contingency allowance for the use of the Construction Manager.

Other bidders did not believe this project could be constructed within the established construction time frame. With good planning and attention to every detail, Van Ewing Construction, Inc. met the very aggressive schedule. The Oncology vault consisted of concrete walls and roof ranging from two to four feet thick, resting on caissons embedded into bedrock. The entry door was a specialized metal door weighing 1500 pounds.

This project entailed gutting the interior of the reception area, office, treatment, surgery and exam rooms while business went on as usual with minimum interference.
